OPI Suzi Takes The Wheel

Just a quick one tonight.
This is a couple of years old, from the Touring America collection. I love grey, and the collection has two - this one which leans more green, and French Quarter For Your Thoughts which leans more blue. I'd probably prefer FGFYT, so fudge knows how I ended up with this one.

But I love it!

A little darker than the bottle colour, much browner and grungier than I was expecting.
Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous.

Two coats, decent dry time, no chips for the four days that I wore it, very shiny.

An all round Very Good Egg.

And currently £3.99 at Fragrance Direct. You heard. Get over there.

The Day I Discovered I Have Duck-Feet

Okay, so this is weird. Also a bit random, so don't say I didn't warn you if this post doesn't offer any useful information at all or enhance your life in any way.

I recently found myself in New Look eyeballing the shoe sale; I needed so ballet flats for work and had decided to upgrade my Primark pumps which were battered and grey and holier than the Pope.

I thought these were pretty. I'm not wrong, am I?
The brown pumps were £8 and the grey pumps were £6, if you want to go and hunt them down yourself.

This is what is weird... I have been a size 4 all my adult life. I think somewhere around the age of 15 my feet stopped growing at size 4, and I was happy with that.

But these are size...

Waaah?!
They are wide-fit. I went back and tried on all of the wide-fit size 3s in the shop and they all fit - and not only that, they are far more comfortable than the size 4s I've worn for the last 14 years.

I have tiny little triangle feet!
I'm as duck-footed as Viktor Krum!

Please tell me I'm not the only person in the world to discover they have odd triangle feet?!
Also, does this mean I need to shop at New Look forever, or are there other places I can get wide shoes? Please help me find nice shoesies for my special feet.

OPI You're Such A Budapest

I'm not the first, and I won't be the last to buy a polish just because of its name.
I'm also not the only person ever to use an ulterior motive to show off my holiday snaps.

Oh Budapest. You are a good looking city.

From the Euro Centrale collection, You're Such A Budapest is a light blueish purple, sitting somewhere between lavender and periwinkle if you like poncey names for your colours. It has a teeny silvery shimmer but you can't see it.

I didn't think I'd like it at all. I don't actually like purple much, and I was certain that light nail polishes make my hands look like giant red squid monsters.
I was wrong!
I adore it. The colour is very flattering even on my dry pink paws.

Application was okay. The polish is thin and looks a little patchy for the first coat, but two thick or three thin coats will see you right.
Dry time was good.
Wear time good too, I added one coat of Seche and then did three days with no chips or noticeable tipwear.
OPI is expensive in the UK, and to be honest the formula is good but not as perfect as I'd hope for the price. However, for the colour it is worth it - it is just gorgeous and I don't have any other lavenders that lean this blue.

OPI is available from Beauty Bay at £11.50 a pop. This particular colour is also in the mini-set, and you'll get to try three others too.
I kind of wish I liked any of the polishes with a Polish themed name, just so I could use the phrase "Polish polish" until it annoyed everybody. Oh it's annoying already? Okay.

Fine.
I'll just get back to being all excited about my next trip to Budapest.
Roll on Summer!

Mr Hamilton - I'll see you there.

Powdered Almond Does Paris

Over the Easter holidays I took the little 'un to Disneyland Paris. This was mine and the Mr's third trip to Paris in the last five years. We must love it.

1. Queues outside the Pompidou. We didn't go inside this time. The Mr loves the Pompidou. I think there are too few sitting down opportunities to be a truly enjoyable art experience.

2. Creperie. Mmm.

3. The Latin Quarter at night. I LOVE the Latin Quarter, so many cools bars and it's just got a nice feel to it, yaknow? Last time we went we stayed around here, and this is where I would choose if I was to stay again.

4. Dunno what that is. Blackpool?

5. Kickin' it Dr Langdon-stylee at the Louvre. Great for fans of glass panes and queuing.

6. Winged Victory of Samothrace.

7. Totally found a statue of a fat Dementor in the Louvre. Very happy about this.

8. Notre Dame looking all glowy and purple.

9. Notre Dame looking not at all glowy and purple. This was the view from the Batobus, a kind of boat bus on the river. Actually here's a bit of advice - don't get the Batobus! You can get on and off at various points along the river, and to be honest the price isn't bad for a day pass. But at each "port" people just crowd to get on, and the boat won't let everybody on, even if there is room. Be prepared to shove everyone else out of the way or just be left waiting for the next one. Can you tell I had a bad experience?

10. Macaroons. Less delicious than I expected.

11. Some cool Mickey graffiti.

12. The famous "Green Boxes" that run along the banks of the Seine. This is where the Bouquinistes of Paris sell their second hand books and all sorts of interesting maps, journals and trinkets. I found some amazing stuff in here, some lovely maps and posters but I was worried they'd get crumpled on the way home.

13. I don't know where this is actually, I just thought it looked cool.

14. The Jardin des Plants. Less plants than one would expect, actually. But more dinosaurs.

15. Beautiful Parisian buildings.

And that's it for this trip! I'm sure I'll be back in a couple of years. Hope you enjoyed my (well, mine and the Mr's) snapshots of this beautiful city.

Industrial-ish Ceiling Lights

All images from shop websites, see below.

1. Islington 6 Light, £65, next.co.uk
2. Reflex Hanging Ball Pendant, currently £39, diy.com
3. Bayliss Globe Pendant, £168, rowanandwren.co.uk
4. Factory Pendant Lamp, £79.00, maisonsdumonde.com
5. Copper Industrial Ceiling Light, £385, notonthehighstreet.com
6. Clear Halle Bottle Cluster Pendant, £125, bhs.co.uk
7. Industry Copper Metal Pendant Light, £80, habitat.co.uk

So the boiler broke. Gutted.
The best way to get over problems in my actual house is to dream about my perfect house, right? Well, that and chocolate.

I could never go for a full-on industrial look in a house, I love my flowers and fluff too much, but some of these are just so pretty. Imagine the habitat copper pendant in a kitchen with a copper stovetop whistling kettle... gorgeous, no?

Any you like?
