China Glaze Holographic in Infra Red

China Glaze Holographic in Infra Red - above with flash, below with natural light.
Hmm.

I don't know what to think. I picked up Infra Red yesterday - due to holiday-related poorness I only allowed myself one from this collection, and chose this because I fancied a berry/magenta kind of shade on my nails anyway. The magenta is gorgeous. I'll start by saying that.

I was really excited about these China Glaze holos, and I don't deny it's a pretty polish, but I wanted it to be amazingly holo. I wanted it to say Obi-Wan Kenobi was its only hope.

Well it doesn't. Above you see the polish with the best sun February has to offer, and the effect is there but it is subtle. I know damn well that this is one of the more subtle holos in the collection and I still chose it, so I shouldn't really complain.

Sometimes the light catches it and the holo shows with, to my eye, particular emphasis on blue. It gives the magenta an electric look which I like very much.

And of course with flash it's a cracker, so that gives you a clue of what it looks like under spotlights etc. But most of us don't live under spotlights.

Application was a treat - two coats and it was perfect. It looked metallic but a little matte to my eye - these pictures show a coat of Seche, which didn't seem to alter the holo effect.
It dried quickly, but was brittle when dry, and unsurprisingly (albeit very annoyingly) my nails look very chipped on the second day.

Swings and roundabouts, I guess.
What do you reckon?
